Context - Its all about the audience
First lets look at why we should be concerned about context. There are certain basic rules of how an audience receives information from a speaker. Communication has to be structured in such a way that a person understands what said as easily as possible. It's mainly because every human being perceives everything differently. They in fact put their own spin on the information. Whether its vocal or visual it is a fact that you can see or hear the same information differently than another person witnessing it at the same time a same place. It's all in the way your senses interpret the information. As a presenter you must attempt to minimize this effect on the audience. Keeping your terms in your presentation has the effect of doing just that.
Where context has its greatest impact is when dealing with people one-on-one such as in a sales process or in a conflict resolution. In these situations what you say and how you say it is critical and has a major impact on the outcome. If context has that importance in those situations then it also is important to use this same concept when writing and delivering your speech or presentation. When you strive for excellence rather than just adequacy then we should use all the tools available.
