Make Your Audience "Dream"
The use of emotional evidence and bringing the message home to dovetail with like
experiences of the individuals in the audience will increase the impact of the
message and will result in action taking place. Unfortunately this method is sometimes
used to "make the audience dream" or in other words create the illusion that just
thinking something is possible makes it possible. This is often true in self-development
and results in unreasonable expectations that often result in failures that damage
persons self esteem. Making the audience "dream" with the result of creating
realistic expectations is very commendable but this method must be tempered
with the realization that the speaker in utilizing this power of influence assumes
great responsibility for the outcomes or lack thereof.
Finally, "speaking with authority" does not result from just using these strategies
but also is a result of life experiences and the maturity as well as the intellectual
depth of the speaker.
Maintain your thirst for knowledge. Work hard at increasing your intellectual
property and your ability to truly influence your audience will increase with your
personal growth.
