Intellectual Property "Your Greatest Asset"
(Page Three)

Suddenly its tomorrow!

When we had perfected sources of production and it's distribution and stepped into space and became the perceived masters of the universe suddenly ideas became more important than commodities.   Once this happened then intellectual properties or assets became a recognized factor and was finally valued correctly.   Mind you, it has always been so, but just now became apparent.   To prove the point we look at the success of creative advertising and the great financial houses and of course the computer industry.   Ideas and intellectual properties of individuals made all these industries the forces they are today.   Names like David Olgilvey, Steven Jobes and of course Bill Gates all became engines of wealth and power because of their intellectual properties.   For instance Xerox had the idea for the graphic recognition computer but it took Steve Jobes of Apple to develop it.   It takes intellectual activity to make the wheels of commerce whir.

What this means to You!

All this means the power in the future lies with the individual.   That means you!   Lifelong learning increases your intellectual property on a regular basis.   The build up of these personal assets is cumulative, what you learn is never lost.   You must have respect for this personal resource.   Keep it fresh and vibrant by reading and absorbing new information then sharing it with others.   Your mind is like a muscle.   The more you use it, and challenge it the stronger and more useful it becomes.   Don't think of your mind as a storage place for irrelevant information.   Keep your ideas fresh and active, discuss and debate.   Communication of your intellectual activities puts wheels on it and promotes growth.   Sharing your ideas and thoughts creates growth in you and in others.   Challenge yourself and others to grow intellectually.   Daily, weekly and monthly reading programs can make a big difference in intellectual growth.   As we grow mentally, self-respect and self-confidence grows.   It's the science of the possible.   Often this activity is termed personal power.   Remember, this not a static power you have to share and put it on the ground and work it, apply in your everyday work.
